Wherever there are people there will be conflict, though the degree to which this is outwardly visible or indeed openly admitted may vary greatly. This is true even in organizations which are founded on peaceful ideals.
This is not something to be ashamed of and it is definitely nothing to be afraid of. However, it is something that needs to be dealt with thoroughly and if possible promptly. Disagreements can become grievances over time, and in the work place this can lead to a lack of cooperation and lost efficiency.
Destructive conflict if not addressed can damage or destroy health, happiness, relationships and even businesses. And yet conflict in itself can be creative, the very spark of innovation. A conflict resolved not only clears the air but can make allies out of enemies.
The mediation process is fair, impartial and confidential; the parties themselves create their own agreement rather than having a compromise forced upon them. Crucially it addresses the root causes of the problem rather than simply dealing with those issues which present themselves on the surface.
